America's Responsibility as Tourists in the Global Economy by Gene Bernkrant - Elite Coastal Vacations
In just the last few years the global travel and tourism industry have grown to almost five trillion dollars. The affect of tourism in the global economy is obvious. Several of the most traveled regions, Cancun Mexico for instance, have no natural resources and are able to produce only souvenir type merchandise to be traded in the world market. The cultures surrounding these heavily traveled places are usually depressed and rely completely on the travel and tourism industry to support them. The wages paid to the indigent people are usually far below what we would expect or consider fair in our own culture. It is for exactly these reasons that we as a people need to resolve the issues that are currently affecting our ability to vacation in these destinations.
Some of the reasons we don't travel enough are social and some are economic. Some of the reasons we don't visit particular destinations are fear of political instability, personal safety and avoidance of poverty and despair. I believe that if we change our view point on these issues we can change the quality of life and the condition of the countries we once flocked to.
On a global scale, compared to other wealthy economies Americans take fewer and vacations and for less days than our European, Canadian, South American and Australian neighbors. Our lives and our leisure have become publicly traded commodities that the working class has the least ability to enjoy. In some cases it is due to a sense of loyalty by an employee for their company and for others it is for fear of missing an opportunity or losing their jobs. On the other hand corporations and employers themselves are constantly trying to meet the growing financial expectations of their Board of Directors, Stock Holders and Investors. To get results they are forced to offer alternatives to anything that would reduce productivity like PTO (paid time off). In some cases employees are underpaid and money is a more important motivator than time off. In reality a very large majority of corporations and employers can afford to pay their employees more money and give them vacations but, the financial result won't be as promising. There is really nothing wrong with that scenario except for the fact that each successive year companies raise the expectations but not the reward. Constant expectation of increased revenue for personal gain at the executive level is the driving factor in most cases for this situation. The good news is that the people and entities that control these factors represent three to five percent of the total population in our country. If there was a way that the majority of us who are negatively affected by these trends could leverage the importance of the mechanism we represent and alter our own financial situations we could force a change in the system. We have to want it and, most of us do.
I have spoken to many people in my travels and most do want to spend more time with their families and travel and have supplemental income. No one I have spoken with really wants to work sixty hours a week and they know that they can lose their jobs due to unforeseen circumstances. This has perplexed me for a long time so I decided a long time ago to find a solution for this problem. Financial freedom was the first thought that came to mind but how? Owning a home and solvency from credit debt were the first and most obvious steps. Increasing personal income was the next factor. I tried climbing the corporate ladder and found discontent. I was damaging my personal relationships to get ahead and ultimately the companies I worked so hard for mismanaged their resources or paid themselves such exorbitant salaries that they had to reduce headcount and even close the doors in some cases. I found this very unsettling and unsavory. So I would work for myself. Business ownership is a daunting thought. It is scary to contemplate not doing what you have been taught to do and have been doing your whole life but remember this adage "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got". I contemplated business endeavors for a long time and explored the market for the right fit. What I found was very labor intensive. It would give me freedom from corporate but in exchange for a large sacrifice of myself and my family. That is when I was approached by a friend of mine who was in between vacations. When you are looking for a change in life I recommend looking for people that seem to be living the life you want to live and just ask them what they do to live that way. That is exactly what I did. He told me that when his wife was pregnant three years ago she had to leave her traditional job and wanted to work from home so she could be with their children and still contribute to the household income. She became an independent travel agent. Over the last few years that opened the door to other opportunities one of which was Coast Club Vacations. This is a Canadian company that has been operating for over 14 years in the resort vacations membership industry. They have an American subsidiary called Coastal Vacations that operates out of Florida. They offer lifetime vacation packages that consist of non-timeshare condo networks, resorts, cruises and discount memberships. Packages range in price from $1295 to $11,000 based on the extent of travel and number of options. I was intrigued already. He went on to explain that they had purchased one for themselves a couple years ago and saved almost $10,000 in just one year while traveling. That sounded great t me. What he told me next amazed me. Apparently when they purchased the package they also were given permission to sell the packages to others and earn a minimum of $1000 commission per sale! Where do I sign up? He said "before you leap I'll give you some research materials and websites so you can make sure this is legitimate, learn about the opportunity, listen to testimonials and see if it is right for you". I thought that was very fair. Long story short it is legitimate and very lucrative. Jeff and his wife are doing very well in fact they made just over $10,000 in the first six months. Jeff was laid off about eight months into the business and given a severance package and decided that if he and his wife dedicated themselves to this they could earn enough to live on. That was a modest expectation. They have not only made enough to live on they have made enough that they will not have to work again! They became level three directors within the first year and are now earning just over $300,000 a year. As a director in Coastal you really are given freedom to grow your on business however you wish as long as it meets the satisfaction of the Coastal Board of Directors. For this reason there are several organizations within Coastal Vacations run by different directors. Jeff and his wife got together and launched a new organization with a brilliant new concept. Instead of generating leads and calling them to sell packages and business opportunities they contracted a call center to do all the closing for them. That was a relief to hear because "closing sales" is my biggest apprehension. Once it was launched they established an entry level price of $1995 that includes a fee for the call center and back office software that helps you manage your business. At this point I was already sold, at least on the package. I took a look at Jeff's vacation package and was just amazed. After a quick call to my wife explaining all that I had learned and discussing our own plans to grow our family she said "let's do it". I bought the level one package with call center and back office for $1995. Since then I have found great ways to generate leads and purchase credible leads and market and advertise all with the help of Jeff and the staff at the call center. I am well on my way to financial freedom and I am experiencing incredible vacations for pennies on the dollar.
It recently struck me that somehow the solution to the problem that had been perplexing me for years just fell into my lap. This opportunity is a great way for anyone to break free of financial and social constraints to spend more time with their families and travel as much as they want. It is like being a professional traveler. What is so special about it is that you can be sitting in a Jacuzzi at a resort somewhere and just mention the product and people are instantly interested. It is not hard to sell. I have derived much satisfaction from helping all the people that have decided to change their own destinies by becoming affiliates. It is also wonderful to visit other places and know that you are supporting other cultures economies and helping people everywhere have brighter more promising futures of their own. America is such a wealth economy that if a majority of us were able to relieve some of our financial burdens and had the money we could support economies all over the world just by traveling. We just need to stand together and demand the change. This is the vehicle to take us there and this vehicle needs drivers and passengers.
